If I’m working toward reaching a fitness goal then is it wrong to work out 7 days a week?

Yes. The body needs rest, our body changes when we sleep. If we don’t allow our body to rest (not only do we prevent change from occurring) we also overwork our bodies which can cause negative results such as injury and excessive fatigue, which disrupts our ability to train at optimal levels.
