Workout: Formula For Success

You may recall your favorite grade school teacher saying, “No question is a bad question”.  Well, this is even truer as we navigate in the real world, especially when it comes to fitness.  Fitness can be very confusing as we are constantly bombarded with numerous diets of the moment, strange exercise gadgets and new exercise techniques.  How does one determine the best plan of action?

Step 1. Ask Questions

Whether you look around your gym or online there are fitness professionals available at your disposal.  Don’t be afraid to ask a question if you feel confused.  Any fitness professional that enjoys their job will not mind spending the extra time with you to answer your fitness questions.

Step 2. Keep an open mind.

The best student is one that is open to new ideas.  Feel free to be a sponge and absorb information (make sure the information is from a reliable source by checking credentials).

Step 3. Listen to your body.

Usually if you’re watching a fitness video or taking a class the trainer or instructor will describe what you’re supposed to be feeling in your body at the moment.  If you find that you are not “feeling the burn” in the right place adjust your form, and if that doesn’t work, take a time out (speak with the instructor after class for advice on how to make the movement more appropriate for your body).

Step 4. Have Fun!!!

Workouts should be fun that is what keeps you coming back for more.  Try to find a workout style that you enjoy.
