I love Los Angeles! The main reason I love Los Angeles is the weather; when the sun comes out it is time to play. Warm weather opens up the fitness flood gates for activities that you can do to mix up your fitness routine. One of my favorite warm weather exercises is to take a jog on the beach (or boardwalk).
Jogging on the beach has a calming effect on the mind but can be quite strenuous for the body as your heart rate can spike higher than a treadmill run but the soothing scenery can put your mind at ease. 
This combination of mental calm and physical exertion is an excellent way to obtain your goal of weight loss and body fat reduction. Try this routine on for size……..
1. Calming Beach Run. Put some nice slow music on your IPOD and press play. Keep a smooth and steady pace for the duration of the run and try to keep your breathing steady. If you’re a beginner start with 20 minutes and as you become stronger work your way up to 45 minutes or even an hour. To cool down take a 5 minute walk.
2. Bursting Beach Run. Load your IPOD with your favorite music and press play. Start with a nice moderately comfortable pace as the song begins but as the chorus of each song starts, pick up the pace. Express the passion of the song through the movement of your body, as you pump your arms and legs keep your eyes gazing at the destination in front of you. Take a 5 minute walk to cool down.
3. Run and Release. Load your IPOD with your favorite mix that takes you on a musical journey. For the first half of your run try to maintain a steady pace and during the last half start increasing the pace during the chorus of each song. To cool down take a 5 minute walk and incorporate a few yoga poses to calm your mind.
